Maria D. (Major) Bell, 82, of Water View, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at her home.
She was born in Urbanna to the late John and Carrie Major in 1937. She was married in 1958 to the late U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant John H. Bell Jr., who passed away in 2018.
She is survived by her sons, John H. Bell III of Water View, Michael R. Bell, husband of Sylvina Bell of Roanoke; her daughter, Sandra A. Tenney, wife of James A. Tenney of Midlothian; grandchildren, Marcus J. Tenney of Richmond, Derrick J. Tenney of Midlothian, and Makayla M. Bell of Roanoke.
Mrs. Bell is also survived by her sisters, Carrie Barnes of Berwyn, Pa., Virginia Major of Washington, D.C., and Susie Harris of Upper Marlboro, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ben Major, John Major and Andrew Major.
Mrs. Bell was most loving, kind, compassionate, and protective of her friends and family, Ma Bell, Mom, Ganny and Aunt Sookie.
Mrs. Bell was the life of the party and she could also host a fine gathering of her own. She was always ready to help and offer a kind, uplifting and compassionate message. She traveled all over the world with her family and provided them with the best support. She will surely be missed by all.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Washington Funeral Home Inc., Tappahannock. The online obituary and condolences may be found at washingtonfh.com. At the request of the family, services will be private. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
