County may use local contractor to remove sand blocking ramp

Mill Creek Landing at Wake may yet be open to the public, reported Hartfield District Supervisor John Koontz at the supervisors first online “Zoom” meeting on April 7.

Koontz informed board members he has been working steadily with agencies involved in the permitting process to find a way the county can use local contractors to remove sand that is blocking the waterside entrance to the boat ramp. This has caused the ramp to be closed for more than a year.

At the March supervisor meeting, Koontz informed board members that a quick fix to the situation, rather than let it remain closed for possibly years, was to have local contractors remove the sand and open the ramp.
