
Middlesex churches helping out
The food pantry at Hands Across Middlesex provides food, free of charge, to Middlesex residents who meet basic requirements. It encourages all who feel they may qualify, or if they know of someone who may qualify, to come by the pantry or call the number below. There is no formal application or documentation required.
Each customer will receive an average of 75 to 110 pounds of food including:
- Four to eight pounds of bakery items.
- Six to 15 pounds of meat.
- Twenty to 40 pounds of fresh produce.
- Twenty-five to 50 pounds of grocery products and canned goods.
The pantry also provides other household and supplemental items.
Qualified seniors will also receive an additional 25-pound box containing senior-specific foods.
Again, this service is free, and no documentation is required. Help them help you or your neighbors. Visit one of the following pantry events:
- 9-11 a.m. first Tuesday of each month — Union Shiloh Baptist Church, Jamaica.
- 9-11 a.m. first Saturday of each month — Clarksbury United Methodist Church, Deltaville.
- 10 a.m.-4 p.m. second Tuesday of each month — The Cryer Center, Locust Hill.
- 9-11 a.m. third Tuesday of each month — Urbanna Baptist Church, Urbanna (note that this is a change from the previous day and time).
- 10 a.m.-4 p.m. fourth Tuesday of each month — The Cryer Center, Locust Hill.
