The disciples overheard Jesus praying one day and they came to Him with a simple request, “Teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1). So Jesus responded to them by saying, “When you pray …”, and He gave them a general guideline to follow. That guideline is what we know as the model prayer, better known as The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13).
While it is important to put the pieces of the model together, it is equally important to follow the same disciplines that Jesus used in His prayer time:
• Get free from distractions — that is the first thing we see about praying like Jesus did.
