‘Happy Easter, realize things will get better’

This Easter we all find ourselves affected by the current global health crisis. Things are definitely not as they should be. Although it may be hard to see, there is encouragement in remembering that things are not as they should be.

In the Bible’s Genesis chapters 1 and 2, God created all things perfect. His design for the world and for us was perfect. God created man and woman with three distinct things that are crucial to each of us as individuals. God created people with Identity, Community and Purpose. There was only one command that God gave. That was broken when Adam and Eve disobeyed. There was a consequence for that act and the perfect world fell into brokenness.

Humanity’s Identity, Community and Purpose were shaken by sin. This Easter, we have an invitation to regain those three things that are often hard to find in the midst of the brokenness in the world.

An individual’s Identity was found in being created in the image of God. Community was enjoyed directly with God and with other people. Our Purpose was to glorify God by knowing Him, being known by Him, and caring for…
