Food pantry makes plea for help

Donating money to the Hands Across Middlesex’s food pantry is the most efficient way to help feed the needy during these unusual times, said its coordinator, Dave Cryer.

Cash donations are truly best for a number of reasons, said Cryer.

Demand is higher than it has ever been. The number of families calling on the food pantry continue to increase. This past Saturday during a food distribution at Clarksbury United Methodist Church, 15 new clients were seeking food. “In the past two weeks the number of new clients, as a direct result of layoffs, exceed the number of new clients from the last three months,” said Cryer.

Cryer is making a plea for monetary contributions, and volunteers, to help the food pantry help others. “We are going to need help for the long haul,” said Cryer. “Even when this crisis ends, the need will continue…
