Middlesex considering using local contractors to fix Mill Creek Landing

Hartfield District supervisor John Koontz recommended to the Middlesex Board of Supervisors in February that the county consider using local contractors to fix Mill Creek Landing at Wake because the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries does not have immediate funding to fix the problem. At the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors meeting on February 4, Hartfield District supervisor John Koontz suggested local contractors be allowed to remove sand from the boat ramp at Mill Creek Landing in Wake.

Koontz said that he has received calls from constituents regarding the boat landing and he is looking for a “local” solution to fix the problem.

For over a year now, the ramp has been shut down because sand buildup has obstructed the ramp. The ownership and maintenance of the ramp belongs to VDOT and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF).
