The Middlesex Rotary Club has announced that Greg Chambers of Urbanna is its selection for the Pride of Middlesex Award for 2020 and will be honored for his service to the community at an award dinner at the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department Pavilion on Saturday, April 4. All proceeds from the event will go to Habitat for Humanity of Middlesex County and the in-county projects of the Middlesex Rotary Charitable Foundation Inc.
Chambers was actively involved with Habitat for Humanity in Schenectady, N.Y., before his retirement, and he continued volunteering with Habitat once he and his wife Gayle moved here. He served as president of Habitat for Humanity of Middlesex County for the past eight years and currently serves as its vice president. He has also served in multiple leadership positions at both the Cryer Center and Hands Across Middlesex over the last 10 years. Chambers has been actively involved with the Middlesex Water Authority since it was started in 2014, and he currently serves as board chair.
The award dinner for Greg Chambers will be held on Saturday, April 4, with a social hour from 5-6 p.m. and the dinner and program beginning at 6 p.m. at the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department Pavilion at 3309 Twiggs Ferry Rd., near the intersection of Routes 3 and 33 in Hartfield. In addition to the dinner, a Build-A-House activity is planned to help raise funds to build Habitat for Humanity’s next home here. Tickets are $60 per person and $110 per couple. Table sponsorships are available at the Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels. To become a sponsor or purchase tickets, contact Gary Cook via email at POM@va.metrocast.net or speak to any Middlesex Rotary Club member.
