The Middlesex County School Board will hold a public hearing on a proposed $20,236,431 2020-21 (FY21) school budget on Monday, February 24, at 7 p.m. in the Historic Middlesex Courthouse in Saluda. The proposal calls for a 4% increase plus a step raise for all school personnel.
The total amount of the proposed budget includes general fund monies ($18,543,182), capital improvement funds ($1,008,000), school food fund ($563,808), and textbook fund ($121,441).
Anticipated new revenues needed to balance the proposed budget are $643,465 in state revenues and $379,418 in county funds.
FY21 state revenues will be based on a projected Average Daily Membership (ADM) of 1,130 students (last year 1,170). State funds are allocated according to the ADM—number of students being educated.
