The Middlesex County Public Schools (MCPS) was recently notified of having been awarded a Dominion Energy grant to partially fund two new electric 75-seat school buses.
At a joint board of supervisors and school board budget work session on February 11, school superintendent Dr. Peter Gretz alerted supervisors that over $300,000 would be needed in the FY21 budget to fund the new buses. This is on top of $100,000 already approved to purchase a new diesel bus. Dr. Gretz noted that before the school system was aware of Dominion’s offer to donate two buses, a diesel bus had already been ordered.
