Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster is rolling out a new, monthly, guided tour in 2020 that will give visitors an intimate view of the park’s flora and fauna. The series, “Walk on the Wild Side,” will be led by local naturalists, many who are certified Virginia Master Naturalists, the second Thursday of each month from 9-11 a.m.
The first walk, scheduled for Thursday, February 13, will be a great opportunity to learn to identify naked trees, look for breeding eagles, and find signs of frogs and salamanders.
Belle Isle State Park is at 1632 Belle Isle Road in Lancaster. For information on each month’s walk, call the visitor center at 804-462-5030.
