About three years ago Middlesex County undertook a study that determined there was an average 14% gap between Middlesex salaries and salaries paid in other areas, said Middlesex County Administrator Matt Walker, during the January 10 work session of the Middlesex Board of Supervisors (BOS).
The following year the BOS approved a 7% salary increase for school employees effective with the 2018-19 budget.
Walker told the BOS that he and school superintendent Dr. Peter Gretz would like to address the remaining gap this year with a 5% salary increase for county employees and a pay increase for school employees of 4% plus a step, which equates to a 5% increase. “That’s what we would want to try to build into the budget,” said Walker.
