
The Middlesex High School (MHS) Chargers wrestling team won the Pool A Division of the Franklin Duals Invitational at Franklin High School on Saturday, January 11.
The Chargers were paced by Parker Smith, Chris Stokes, Cole Ruark and Andrew Gwyn, who all finished 5-0 in their weight class divisions. Smith won the 126-pound class; Stokes, 152-pound class; Ruark, 170-pound class; and Gwyn, 285-pound class.
Lakin Millen, Brock Parrish, Thomas Wilson, Brayden Deel, Cole Stamm and Skyer Mason each won four matches and lost one. L. Millen was in the 106-pound class; Parrish,113-pound class; Wilson, 120-pound class; Deel, 182-pound class; Stamm, 195-pound class; and Mason, 220-pound class.
Nathan Campbell, Jordan Millen, and Wyatt Brown finished 3-2 in their weight classes. Campbell wrestled in the 132-pound class; J. Millen, 145-pound class; and Brown, 160-pound class. Also, Owen Wynberry finished 2-3 in the 138-pound class.
Middlesex won every team competition in the meet, defeating Norfolk Christian 78-3; Northumberland 78-6; Franklin 48-30; Lakeland 51-30; and Parry McClure 66-18.

“This was an awesome tournament for our MHS grapplers, defeating five teams and keeping the energy going in a positive direction,” said MHS head coach Joel Anderson.
“I am very proud of them and how hard they worked. We have Ram Rumble (at Lafayette High School in Williamsburg on Friday and Saturday, January 17-18) and it is a very tough tournament, but I think our kids should do well,” said Coach Anderson.
The Chargers also won a tri-meet at MHS on Wednesday, January 8, in the John S. Clements Memorial Gym at MHS in Saluda. MHS defeated Windsor 60-18, Essex 72-6, and Northumberland 72-12.
On Wednesday, January 22, Middlesex will have its final home match of the season against Lancaster and Gloucester at 5 p.m.
