Warhill downs Lady Chargers

The Warhill High Lady Lions of Williamsburg trumped the Middlesex High Lady Chargers varsity basketball team 46-20 on Saturday, January 4, at MHS in Saluda.

The Lady Lions came out running and enjoyed a 12-point lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised to victory. The layoff from Christmas break showed up in every area of the game as the Lady Chargers were a step slow throughout the contest, said Middlesex coach Neil Wake. “Myself and the rest of the coaching staff are putting in the work to put a better product on the floor, but right now it just isn’t showing up that way,” said Coach Wake. “We are still in need of a true leader.”

Middlesex (varsity only) will host Chincoteague on Friday, January 10, at 5:30 p.m. in the John S. Clements Memorial Gym at MHS in Saluda.

On Monday, January 13, the Lady Chargers are at Charles City, and on Tuesday, January 14, they are at King William. JV games begin at 5:30 p.m. and varsity games follow.

Middlesex’s scheduled home game against West Point on Tuesday, January 7, was postponed and will be rescheduled.
