Cora Jean Hubbard, 85, passed away December 17, 2019 at Heron Cove in Gloucester after several years of declining health. Born and raised in Clearwater, Florida, she was predeceased by her parents, Frederick R. and Lucile Fussell Hubbard; and her sister, Lt. Col. Mary Ann Hubbard Wills.
She is survived by her nephew, James C. Wills (Kathy) of New Kent; and two lifelong friends, Mary L. Murphy of Richmond and Marian S. Badgett of Deltaville.
Jean graduated from Queens University, Charlotte, N.C., and earned a Master of Christian Education from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond. With her office in Atlanta, she was mentor and friend to her store managers and their staffs.
Jean chose Deltaville in which to spend her retirement years. She loved getting to know many neighbors and friends as well as their various animals. She knew the names of many dogs, even if not the owner. Fishing, boating, gardening and traveling enriched her life.
Her family and friends would like to thank the staff of Sanders Retirement Community (Heron Cove #2) for its compassionate care and good humor.
At her request, her body was donated to the Virginia State Anatomical Society. Her remains will be interred in the Clearwater Cemetery with those of her family at a later date.
