King William edged Middlesex 87-78 in a Tidewater District boys varsity basketball game on December 10 at King William.
It was a one possession game with one minute to go but the Cavaliers pulled away down the stretch.
“Our defense didn’t hold up in the second half,” said MHS coach Jon Hatch. We had played extremely well in the first half. Seventy-eight points should get the job done.”
Jaden Reed led Middlesex with 17 points, Brandon Ward, Mitch Curtiss and Jamari Gonzales each had 13, Cassidy Ward tallied 11, Camren Hammond had 8, and Mike Hammond added 5.
Middlesex will visit Mathews on Friday, December 20. The JV game begins at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m.
Over the holiday break, the Chargers will compete in the Tabb Tournament on December 27-28.
On Saturday, January 4, the Chargers will host Hampton Roads Academy (varsity only) at 7 p.m.
