24th Urbanna Xmas Parade

The results of the 24th Urbanna Hometown Christmas Parade held on December 6 are as follows:

Judges Awards—Urbanna Baptist Church Day Care and Massey Urbanna Builders.

Mayor’s Award—Payne’s Crab House Wonderland, sponsored by Norton’s Yachts.

Antique Vehicles—first, 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass of Frankie Bristow; second, 1995 Mustang of Dana Longest.

Commercial floats—first, Bethpage Ice Creamery; second, Brandon and Tammie Putney, Affordable Lawn Care.

Non-commercial floats— first, St. Clare Walker Builder’s Club; second, Remlik Weslyan Church Youth.

Walking Units— first, Boy Scout and Cub Scout Troop 341, which included the “Cub Scout Express” train; second, Shirley’s Clowns.

Specialty Units— Amanda Satterly.

Best Appearing Emergency Vehicle— first, Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department; second, Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department of Water View.

Appreciation went to Middlesex High School Marching Band, Gloucester High School Marching Band, and Hermitage Baptist Church Choir, which sang prior to the parade at Bristow’s Store.

Parade chair Lois Jean Brooks said, “On behalf of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department Woman’s Auxiliary and the Town of Urbanna, we thank all who attended the parade and participated. Although I was not able to be there, I heard everything was beautiful as always. I thank everyone who helped me.

“I wish each and every one a very merry Christmas and a happy healthy new year,” Brooks concluded.
