The Urbanna Christmas Parade will be held Friday, December 6. Food concessions will start at the firehouse at 4:30 p.m. At 6:15 p.m. the Hermitage Baptist Church Choir will perform on the steps of Bristow’s Store. Also, Beth Justice of the band Sweet Justice will sing at the firehouse, where food will be on sale. The parade begins at 7 p.m. and the finale will be Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus arriving on a fire truck. Youngsters of all ages will be able to visit with them inside the firehouse. Meteorologist Frances Peyton of Channel 6 will be an honored guest for the parade and will watch it from the judges stand. This year’s parade will be led by Sergeant Teagle on his Virginia State Police motorcycle. Lois Jean Brooks, who has organized the Christmas Parade for 24 years, broke her ankle and will not be able to attend. Members of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary are the honorary grand marshals, and Brooks is a member. “I put my heart and soul into the parade and I hope the town will excuse me and everything will go off well,” said Brooks this week.
