Christmas in Urbanna Lighting of the Trees, 5:30 p.m., town green at 241 Virginia Street. The event will be accompanied by the Urbanna Baptist Church carolers.
Urbanna Hometown Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. in downtown Urbanna. Activities start at the firehouse at 5:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be available. Call 758-4717 to enter the parade. Following the parade Santa visits with children in the firehouse.
December 7
Breakfast With Santa, 8:30-11 a.m., Hartfield Firehouse. Santa arrives by fire truck at 9:30 a.m. to visit with children. Pancake breakfast featuring pancakes, sausage, apples and a table of condiments to decorate pancakes. Adults $8; children ages 3 to 10 are $4; age 2 and under are free.
Urbanna Harbour House Tour, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There are six stops on the tour. Tickets are available at Cyndy’s Bynn, Lowe Tide, Fin and Pearl, Bristow’s Store, If It’s Wood and More, ReSail Boutique, and Simply YaYa’s in Urbanna, and Papeterie and Burke’s Fine Jewelers in Kilmarnock. Urbanna businesses will be open extended hours for shopping.
Christmas in Urbanna Puppet Show, 11 a.m., Urbanna Baptist Church. There is no admission charge. Following the puppet show the Children’s Christmas Shop will open at 11 a.m. at the Church.
Christmas House Tour of Historic Leafwood, 1-4 p.m., 820 Gloucester Road, Saluda. Purchase tickets ($10) at the door. Sponsored by Middlesex County Museum & Historical Society. Light refreshments.
December 8
John Hardy’s “A Christmas Carol,” 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Middlesex High School auditorium in Saluda. Sponsored by the Middlesex County Museum & Historical Society, Arts in the Middle and the Middlesex County Kiwanis through a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Admission at the door, $15 for adults and $10 for children.
Chesapeake Chorale Concert, 3 p.m., St. Clare Walker Middle School auditorium, Locust Hill. Tickets ($10) on sale at the door.
December 10
The Courthouse Community Orchestra, composed of adult and high school members from Middlesex, West Point, Gloucester, Mathews and Yorktown, will present its Christmas concert, “The Heart of Winter,” at 7 p.m. at Urbanna Baptist Church. Admission is free.
December 13
Jackson Creek Christmas Cruise, 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m. Trolley leaves Deltaville Community Center on the hour and takes ticket-holders past the light show at Mason Realty on its way to the Jackson Creek dock for a boat cruise aboard Lucky Lady. Refreshments and holiday activities in the community center until 8 p.m. The event is a sellout but some tickets may become available on the evening of the cruise. December 14
Middlesex YMCA Jingle Bell 5K run/walk, Kids Fun Run and Family Day will be held at Piankatank River Golf Club in Hartfield. The Kids Fun Run starts at 9 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. The Winter Wonderland starts at 9 a.m. in the golf course clubhouse. There will be pictures with Santa and crafts. December 20-21
Polar Express, 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. each evening, Urbanna Firehouse. This is a holiday trolley ride through town. Passengers will board at the firehouse. Tickets are $15 each and are only available online at www.Urbanna.com. Children under 2 years old can ride in their parent’s lap for free. There are only 25 tickets available per time slot. Tickets will go on sale December 2.
December 21
Urbanna Christmas Children’s and Pet Parade, 11 a.m., Sonabank parking lot on Virginia Street. There is no charge to enter. Prizes will be awarded.
