The service for Middlesex County churches was held at Saluda Baptist Church on November 24. Rev. Ileana Rosario, president of the Middlesex Ministerial Association, was the coordinator for the service. There was a wide representation of churches among the clergy and attendees. “We had 14 churches represented among those attending,” said Rev. Rosario. There were 12 clergy representing local churches and eight of them participated in the worship service.
The service started with a welcome by Pastor Eddie Harrow Jr., pastor of Saluda Baptist. He praised Rev. Rosa for organizing the service. Throughout the service, each clergyman shared the podium leading prayers, recitations and scripture reading. The Lower United Methodist Church choir sang an African-American Spiritual and Pastor Harrow Jr. gave a sermon on “Why Be Thankful.”
Kyle Jenkins, president of Hands Across Middlesex, gave a short talk about ways Hands serves the community and welcomed them to join this all-volunteer organization. A collection of $531 was taken and donated to Hands Across Middlesex.
“This was a wonderful service. It was a blessing to the many that attended,” said Betty Johnson. Following the service, there was a reception in the fellowship hall.
