The body of a 63 year-old-man was found floating in Broad Creek in Deltaville on Sunday, November 24, reported Major M.E. Sampson of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office.
According to police, deputies were called to Dozier’s Regatta Point Marina about 3 p.m. after transient boaters who had docked their boat at the marina discovered the deceased man in the water.
He is identified as Steven Carroll Bradley of Henrico.
Deputies found a dock cart at the slip and it appeared Mr. Bradley had been bringing supplies to the boat.
Mr. Bradley’s wife told deputies she had talked with her husband Sunday morning a few hours before he was found fully-clothed floating in the creek.
The transient couple’s boat was not near Mr. Bradley’s boat. They discovered Mr. Bradley’s body as they were walking to the marina office, an indication that more than a few hours had passed before he was discovered.
Mr. Bradley’s body was sent to the state medical examiner who will determine the cause of death.
Although foul play is not suspected, all unattended deaths are investigated, explained Major Sampson. He added that the case remains open pending the findings by the medical examiner.
