Urbanna Festival of Trees is Dec. 6 on town green

The public is invited to the annual Christmas in Urbanna Festival of Trees beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6, on the town green at 241 Virginia Street.

There will be 13 trees decorated by local businesses, non-profit organizations and the local schools. The Urbanna Baptist Church Carolers will open for the festival. New this year, Urbanna will be celebrating the lighting of its official town tree!

The event sponsors are Town of Urbanna, Urbanna Business Association, George Throckmorton, Haywoods/Nancy Fisk, Karen Lowe, Bill Sharp, Judy Mansfield, Joyce Allen, and If It’s Wood and More.

This years participants are Urbanna Baptist Day Care, Bethpage Camp-Resort, Oyster Festival Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Middlesex, Middlesex Elementary School, St. Clare Walker Middle School, Middlesex High School, Kathleen M. Hall CPA, Sonabank, Cryer Center Hands & Habitat, Town of Urbanna, State Farm, and Half Shell Grill.

Voting for the best tree will be open to the public beginning at 4 p.m. on December 6 and continuing until 4 p.m. on December 7.

Vote via ballot at the town green fence and social media’s “Christmas in Urbanna” Facebook page. 

The awards are $100 for 1st place (blue ribbon), and $50 for 2nd place (red ribbon).
