Deltaville’s own David Moran performs Saturday at museum’s holiday brunch

by Bill Powell
Events Director
Deltaville Maritime Museum –

Guitarist and balladeer David Moran will play the music for this Saturday’s Holiday Gift Market “BistroBenedictBloodyMaryBrunch” from 9:30 a.m.-noon in the Events Pavilion’s enclosed north wing at the Deltaville Maritime Museum. Vendors will be in the open south wing and in the park area. This is the last scheduled official event of the 2019 season. (See related story in this issue of the Sentinel.)

David brings his smooth, straightforward style to songs you know and love.

David said, “I am somewhere on the roads and rails, traveling from the Woody Guthrie 1930s to the Jackson Browne 1970s, with stops along the way to sing a few Hank Williams and Merle Haggard songs.”

David continued, “I have played solo and in a variety of groups over the years. I think a musician wants to get some recognition for the work put in learning the material. Some songs I have been playing for a long time, and some I have learned this month. My style comes from listening to lots of albums and musicians over the years, especially Chicago blues, traditional country, and bands and artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jackson Browne and the Grateful Dead. I like to think that I am part of the folk, blues and country music that goes back to Jimmie Rodgers and Woody Guthrie, and continues through Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, and Dwight Yoakam, just to name a few. I believe playing guitar and singing is a time-honored tradition, so I just keep playing since most music is carried on this way and people like to hear some familiar songs. I think putting my own mark or style within the song is what keeps it going.”
