Zoar Baptist Church in Deltaville is sponsoring a “Packing Party” for Operation Christmas Child this Saturday, November 16, at 5 p.m. in the fellowship hall. All are invited and welcome. The shoeboxes, toys and items for packing are supplied by the church. Once packed, the shoeboxes are sent to needy children throughout the world.
It all begins with a Chili Cook-Off. Church members bring chili and votes are tallied for the favorite. There is always plenty to go around and delicious choices. Once the votes are collected, a winner is announced.
Then on to the packing. Cindy Hodges, a Samaritan Purse representative and church member, has organized the items for the shoeboxes. “Last year we were able to pack many boxes. We have enough items to pack around 400-500 boxes but could use help from the community,” said Cindy. “It is a wonderful experience for young families.”
