‘Christmas in Urbanna’ to offer variety of events

In addition to the annual Christmas Parade, “Christmas in Urbanna” will feature a house tour, fashion show/luncheon, tree lighting ceremony, children’s activities, the Polar Express, and a children’s and pet parade.      

The Christmas in Urbanna Fashion Show and Luncheon starts the festivities at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 6, at the Chesapeake Inn on Virginia Street in Urbanna. Tickets are available at Lowe Tide, Cyndy’s Bynn and Bristow’s Store.

Christmas in Urbanna Lighting of the Trees takes place at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6, on the town green at 241 Virginia Street. The event will be accompanied by the Urbanna Baptist Church carolers.

December 6 events will end with the annual Urbanna Hometown Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. in downtown Urbanna. Activities start at the firehouse at 5:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be available. Call 758-4717 to enter the parade.

On Saturday, December 7, the 2019 Harbour House Tour will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There are six stops on the tour. Tickets are available at Cyndy’s Bynn, Lowe Tide, Fin and Pearl, Bristow’s Store, If It’s Wood and More, ReSail Boutique, and Simply YaYa’s. Town businesses will be open extended hours for shopping.

For children, the Christmas in Urbanna Puppet Show will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, at Urbanna Baptist Church. There is no admission charge. Following the puppet show the Children’s Christmas Shop will open at 11 a.m. at Urbanna Baptist Church.

On both Friday and Saturday, December 20-21, the Polar Express will take off from the Urbanna Firehouse for two runs, at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. This is a holiday trolley ride through town. Passengers will board at the firehouse. Extended shopping hours with free gift wrapping and goodies will be available at participating boutiques.

The Christmas in Urbanna Children’s and Pet Parade will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 21. The parade starts at Sonabank on Virginia Street. There is no charge to enter.
