The Seahorses celebrated Senior Day, recognizing those players before the final home game of the 2019 season. Although CCS trailed 24-15 at the half, the Seahorses surged in the second half to secure their number two ranking in Division 2 of the VISAA.
As coach Brendan Cole ’13 reported after the game, if last week the defense led the team to victory, this week it was the offense. This game was the quintessential “shoot-out.” Lawton is a sure Division 1 talent, so the Seahorses needed an answer. Wood went 8 of 12 for 114 yards and a TD. Christchurch had 644 in offensive yards. Offensive coordinator John Dehm kept the Ambassadors on their heels all day, helping the Seahorses to overcome Lawton’s passing and running threats.
CCS heads to North Cross School in Roanoke Saturday for a 2 p.m. game. The undefeated Raiders are the undisputed favorite to win the VISAA D2 crown. The Seahorses hope to upset their plans.
