Some call them “spare parts cars,” others call them “junk.” Whatever the name, Middlesex County is considering a law to require “inoperable vehicles” to be shielded from view.
On Wednesday, November 6, at 7 p.m. the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at the Historic Courthouse in Saluda and consider adopting an ordinance that would require inoperable vehicles to be shielded from view.
The draft ordinance defines an inoperable vehicle as “any vehicle which is not in operating condition or which, for a period of 60 days or longer, has been partially or totally disassembled by the removal of tires and wheels, the engine, or other essential parts required for operation of the vehicle or on which there is displayed neither a valid license plate nor a valid inspection decal.”
Per the draft ordinance “vehicle means any motor vehicle, trailer and semitrailer.”
