MHS girls host West Point in tourney opener Tuesday

The Middlesex varsity volleyball team defeated West Point on October 22 in what may be a preview of the Tidewater District tournament, which begins Tuesday, October 29, at Middlesex High School.

The Lady Chargers easily swept visiting West Point 25-16, 25-11 and 25-11.

District tournament

The Lady Chargers have not lost a district match this season and lead the Tidewater District, with King William in second place and Mathews in third. West Point is in the fourth spot.

The Tidewater District Tournament begins on Tuesday, October 29, at 6 p.m. and Middlesex will host the fourth place team West Point. King William and Mathews will play in the other semifinal match.

The winners play for the championship on Thursday, October 31, at 6 p.m. on the home court of the higher seed. Middlesex will host the finals if it defeats West Point in the semifinals.

The Lady Chargers were scheduled to finish their regular season at Nandua on Thursday, October 24.
