‘One Community Under God’ will feature great-souled music Oct. 27

Beth Justice

“One Community Under God” (OCUG) is a uniting worship co-hosted by several Middlesex County churches. This year’s service will be held inside the Urbanna Firehouse on Sunday, October 27, at 11 a.m. A light lunch will be served after the service. All are heartily invited to attend and bring family and friends. Dress is casual.

“This year’s music will be outstanding,” said an event spokesperson. The music will be truly great-souled music for all to enjoy and join in! There will be two soloists. George Robinson will sing “Forgive Me,” authored by well-known musician Tom Euler, who has graciously granted ‘One Community Under God’ permission to use his song. Beth Justice will sing “Standing on the Promises.”

In addition to soloists, members of the various church choirs are coming together to unite voices. Instrumental music will be provided by B.J. Haas, guitar; Michael McNeill, piano, bass and drums; Mike Carey, bass and drums; Lamar Gresham, keyboard; and Charles “Bunny” Dunlevy, guitar. Members of the audience will also join in singing together. Choir practices are October 19 at Urbanna United Methodist Church (UUMC) and on October 26 at the Urbanna Firehouse. Both practices begin at 10 a.m.
