Oyster Festival Queen contestant Danielle Jones and her Little Miss Spat contestant Jillian Major teamed up to help raise money for the Deltaville Sharks swim team. Both are members of the team and have been for 3 years. Both are amazing swimmers and have nothing but smiles even when they have just finished a tiring relay.
Over the years the equipment that every age group uses gets worn out (diving blocks, kickboards and flags). So that is what they wanted to change. Jones and Major made donation jars for the small businesses around their community and spread the word. Bethpage Camp-Resort teamed up with the two girls to help raise money for the team by hosting a golf cart wash and bake sale. It was a big success for the two girls, raising $200. The next big fundraiser Jones and Major did was a lemonade and popcorn stand during the Groovin’ in the Park concert at the Deltaville Maritime Museum. Almost running out of popcorn, they made $100. Along with the donation jars (which collected $200), Danielle and Jillian raised $500.
During her career at Middlesex High, Jones has been involved in almost everything the school has to offer—from basketball, soccer, tennis and volleyball to TSA, Key Club, Anime Club and Art Club. Jones has been playing basketball for 7 years and soccer for 4. She has also been a member of SGA. For the 2018-2019 school year she was president of Student Government. She is a member of Chester Baptist Church.
After graduation, Jones plans on majoring in biochemical and/or agricultural engineering.
Jones is the daughter of Diane Jones Morris and Shawn Jones, and granddaughter of Evon Gosnell and Curtis B. Goodman Jr. Jones is also the only child.
Jillian Major, Jones’ Little Miss Spat contestant, is in the first grade at Middlesex Elementary School. She is the daughter of Brandy and Ryan Major, and granddaughter of Penny and Gary Gilbert. She enjoys science, swimming at the beach, and crafts.
