J.B. Foley Memorial Golf Tournament creates a legacy for local YMCA kids

The 2019 J.B. Foley Memorial Golf Tournament was held at the Piankatank River Golf Club in Hartfield on September 13-14  with 32 golfers participating.

For the past decade, the Foley family has supported the future of our local youth in loving memory of J.B. Foley through the YMCA’s mission in Middlesex. With $88,094 raised to date, the Foley’s impact has given thousands of children the opportunity to thrive in our rural community through scholarships and programs. As the Y’s reach expanded over the years, the Foley family made a commitment to ensure the success of the Y’s fundraising endeavor to bring a gym to the lower end of the county. This year, $13,081 in tournament proceeds have been dedicated to the Middlesex Family YMCA Endowment, further perpetuating J.B’s legacy.

“Through their vision, the Foleys have given the Y the opportunity to provide all children the ability to play, learn, and grow, regardless of life circumstances. The Middlesex Family Y is blessed to have Tom, Bea, and Tommy Foley who, through their generosity and influence, have built a growing legacy that will live on through countless lives nurtured at the Y,” said Buzz Lambert, center executive for the Middlesex Family YMCA.

The Foley family and the Y would like to thank the tournament sponsors: Platinum Sponsors, Mason and Jeannie Clark, Jack and Linda Ochnich, Steve and Bobbie Thomas; Gold Sponsors, Andy and Marla Bury, Steve and Lisa Forte, Jon and Danni Lange; Silver Sponsors, Jamie Edwards, Lawrence Fuccella, Sean Foley, Rob and Shannon Haley, Wyatt Yasura; Bronze Sponsors, Jody Anglin, Betsy Bristow, Gwen Dozier, Moe Mosby, Brian Major, Larry and Chrystal Welch; Hole Sponsors, Joe Agnew, Chris Anderson, Bill and Cean Cawthorn, Phil and Joy Crowder, Organic Green Lawn Care Inc., Jack and Joan Foley, Nancy Foley, Tom and Bea Foley, Thomas Foley III, Tom Hamilton, Joey Jones, Buzz Lambert, Jim Miller, Marty Minder, Chad Ochnich, Mike and Muriel Phaup, Larry Shores, Lance Shores, Larry and Chrystal Welch, Bobby Wilson, John Strotmeyer, Charlotte Strotmeyer.
