Ware Academy commenced its 70th year as an outstanding educational institution with a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of two new classrooms as well as its Primary Pod.
Interim Head of School Dawn Fleet and members of Ware Academy Board of Trustees recognized general contractors Jim Miller of Miller’s Construction and Ian Morse of Morse Enterprises along with Jamie Miller of Miller’s Septic.
Fleet thanked the representatives from Virginia Commonwealth Bank for assisting the school with short-term financing.
Richard Hicks, past chair of the board of trustees and Ware alumnus, was instrumental in completing this project. His dedication to the school continues to be astounding.
Trustee John Elkin, facilities chair, extended the school’s appreciation to all of the county employees who helped secure the correct permits. A reception followed the ceremony.
Fleet referenced the school’s motto “One team, One goal,” to explain how the project was completed in such a short window of time. “Every person involved contributed to making this a reality,” she said. “Our faculty and staff, parents, members of the board of trustees, and students worked together to have the facility ready for the first day of school.”
