The Middlesex JV volleyball team held on to defeat Mathews in three set on September 19. Middlesex rallied back after losing 26-24 to Mathews in the first game, and won the next two games 25-16 and 15-13.
Late in the first set, the Middlesex JV Lady Chargers scored four straight points for a 24-20 lead and were looking at game point. However, Mathews posted a 6-point rally to win in overtime 26-24.
Middlesex stiffened in the second game for a convincing 25-16 win. In the third and final game, the score was tied at 13-13 before Middlesex surged ahead to take the game and the match.
The Middlesex JV and varsity volleyball teams are at West Point on Thursday, September 26, and travel to King William on Thursday, October 3. The JV plays at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity plays at 7 p.m.
