Bay Transit, a division of Bay Aging, reported that with support from Bethpage Camp-Resort that eliminated fares on the Urbanna trolley throughout the recently concluded 2019 season, trolley ridership nearly doubled.
During the 2019 trolley season, over 3,500 residents and visitors rode on the Urbanna trolley, known as The Pearl. Total 2019 ridership was up by 91% compared to the 1,869 trolley rides taken in 2018.
Bay Transit provides public transportation in the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula and Charles City and New Kent counties, and also operates seasonal trolleys in Colonial Beach and Kilmarnock.
