Deltaville Maritime Museum –

Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park will have a Saturday of shopping, live music, maritime exhibits and walking nature trails at its Holly Point Market from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on September 28.  Vendors with a variety of offerings will line the park paths and waterfront park.

We welcome back Captain Pete Cardozo aboard the Farinholt Brothers’ restored Deltaville deadrise “Only Son” to our museum Pierwalk on Mill Creek with his wonderful scenic workboat cruises on Mill and Jackson creeks. Only Son, a round-sterned deadrise has been undergoing maintenance at Chesapeake Boat Works over the last month but will be ready to go on September 28. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to take a ride on the “workhorse of the Chesapeake.” The cruises start around 10 a.m. Only Son cruises will also be featured at the October 19 Holly Point Art and Seafood Festival and the November 23 Holiday Gift Market.

On September 28 there will be lots of shopping from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. with  arts, crafts, cheeses, honey, peanuts, breads, sweets, live music, walking the park and trails, eating great food, lounging around, and a bluegrass concert in the evening at Groovin’ in the Park from 5-8 p.m.

There will be a special appearance by the park’s own troubadour, David Moran performing songs of the American road and rails.

The Bistrobunch will serve breakfast sandwiches starting at 9 a.m., and  hot dogs, barbecue and burgers from the new Tea House kitchen starting around 10 a.m. Bev Butler will be bartender and be whipping up bloody Marys, mimosas, and screwdrivers until 1 p.m.

At Groovin’, the liveliest bartender, our own mixologist Mr. Tom Lively, will be coming in around 3:30 p.m. for his madly magical mixology at Groovin’. The Bistrobunch will serve hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue, chips, and cold beverages right along with Tom’s offerings for the concert.

Come back to the park around 5 p.m. as the gates open for a wonderful evening of bluegrass music as Groovin’ in the Park will host  “Rappahannock Crossing” on the Waterfront Stage! This is a “bring your own lawn chair, cooler and picnic” event. Gates open at 5 p.m. Hot food and cold beverages will be served.
