The 2019 Friends of Dragon Run fall paddle season is scheduled from October 17 through November 3, weather permitting, by reservation only. These trips will take paddlers on a three-mile stretch of the Dragon Run through an old canal (early 19th century) that was built to take cypress logs down the river. It’s an enchanting section of Dragon Run, especially with the fall foliage.
Reservations are now being taken. To register, go to the Friends of Dragon Run website at www.dragonrun.org and use the Signup Genius. There are only 12 reservations per day.
Dragon Run cannot accept any paddler under the age of 18.
The use of kayaks and equipment are provided by Friends of Dragon Run crew members. Each paddler is provided with a kayak, a paddle, a life vest, a tie down for glasses, and a radio so that each person on the trip can hear the paddle guide’s comments about the Dragon Run and the flora and fauna that will be seen. There is a suggested donation of $50 per person.
