‘Strong Women’ art exhibit opening at Allure Art Center

The art of J. Lyn Henderson

The newest art exhibit at Allure Art Center opens Thursday, September 12, at 5 p.m. with an opening preview reception. The exhibit features original paintings by Deltaville artist J. Lyn Henderson. The new paintings are part of her “Strong Women” series that depicts bold, colorful, whimsical subjects with a hint of attitude. Each woman depicted has a story and elicits an emotion, often personal to each viewer.

Her sources of inspiration today are as diverse as her artwork. Henderson painted as a form of self-expression throughout her childhood. She has a love of painting faces with expression, faces that tell hidden thoughts behind their eyes. On occasion, she will take that wonderment into another piece of art; art that will always have a story to tell. She seems to have an innate ability to create compassion, hope, humor, fear, and then express these emotions in her art.

Henderson had the opportunity while living in California to attend several art retreats under the direction of Edward (Ed) and Maxine Runci. This was an experience that she treasures to this day. The Runcis were master artists at their very best.

The public is welcome to see all of these wonderful new paintings at the opening reception, Thursday night, September 12. Please RSVP by email at info@allureartcenter.com or leave a message at 804-323-3169. Allure Art Center is located at 419 Rappahannock Drive in White Stone.
