Bay School art reception is Friday

The Clay By the Bay Ceramics Guild will have pottery on display.

The Bay School Community Arts Center invites the public to a reception and celebration of art created in its youth art camps and classes. Camps began in June and continue through August.

The youth art camp and class projects have included papier mache, clay, painting, mixed media art projects and more. Also on display will be art created in our after-school art programs.

A reception for the show will be held Friday, August 16, from 3:30-6 p.m. “Join us for refreshments and a creative project to take home,” said an event spokesperson.

The show will be on exhibit from August 16-24.

The August Artisan Market will be on Saturday, August 17, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be a children’s spot with a nautical project to create, the new Gallery Eye Spy game, and photo booth opportunities.

Participating vendors will have booths set up. Booths include Whisky Bottle Art by Rita Cutler, jewelry by Pat Whitlow and pottery by Clay By the Bay.

The Kids Art Show and the Creative Exchange exhibits are up in the gallery along with other local art.

P. Buckley Moss will be signing a limited number of Market Days posters from 11 a.m.-noon at the Bay School on August 17. This year’s poster “Seasons of Mathews” will not be available again until Market Days. The Artisan Market is held in conjunction with the Mathews Farmers Market.

The Bay School will also have a booth with an art activity for children and adults at the Sea Farms Seafood Festival at Williams Wharf on  August 17.

The Bay School, a non-profit community art school and gallery, is located at 279 Main Street, Mathews, and is supported in part by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, Dominion Energy, Mathews County, Chesapeake Bank, and 12 community gallery sponsors.
