
Alex Christopher Fitchett, 21, of Saluda passed away July 27, 2019 because of injuries sustained in an ATV accident. He is survived by his parents, Joey and Nina Fitchett; sister, Kloe; brother, Trey; grandmothers, Annette F. Greenwood (Nannie), and Laura Schaumleffel (Jeff); uncles and aunts, Josh Fitchett (Debbie), Chris Jorgensen (Mary) and Larry Bonowski; cousins, Sarah, Matthew, Emilee, Hailee and Madi; a special person, Jessica Smith; and his lab, Brodie.
Alex is predeceased by his grandfather, Wesley Christopher Greenwood Jr., and extended family member, John M. (Buddy) Moore.
He was a member of Urbanna Baptist Church, Urbanna.
Alex was a graduate of Middlesex High School excelling as an MHS baseball player, accomplishing All-District, All-Region and All-State, and also a member of the American Legion Post 241 baseball championship teams and the Deltaville Deltas. Alex had a love for the outdoors, fishing, cornhole, riding ATVs and dirt bikes. He never knew a stranger and his contagious smile captivated everyone he knew.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 11, at 4 p.m. at Deltaville Ball Park, 100 Ball Park Rd., Deltaville, VA 23043, with Rev. Jonathan Davis, Rev. Bruce Powers and Rev. Doug Davis officiating. A reception will be held at Harmony Grove Baptist Church, Topping, following the service. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at Harmony Grove Baptist Church at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to American Legion Post 241 Baseball Program, P.O. Box 516, Saluda, VA 23149; checks payable to Joey Fitchett or Annette F. Greenwood.
