‘Pink’ Lady Chargers host Mathews Tuesday

The Middlesex varsity volleyball team defeated King William and Carver Academy and is now 12-4 on the season as it heads to the regular season’s home stretch.

On October 5 the Lady Chargers defeated visiting King William in four games. After dropping the first game 25-20, the Lady Chargers rallied to win the next three games 25-20, 25-13 and 25-19.

“We started slow but then really turned it on,” said Lady Charger coach Brian Walton.

Middlesex served 87% as a team. Elizabeth Ketner, Haley Revere, Makenzie Bristow and Macie Daniel all served 100%. Elizabeth Ketner had 2 aces, 1 assist and 12 digs. Laura Walton had 5 aces, 20 assists, 2 kills and 6 digs. Abby Purcell served 95% with 4 aces and 1 dig. Phoebe Walsh had 2 aces, 5 kills, 4 digs and 1 block. Sarah Walton served 90% with 2 aces, 6 kills and 6 digs. Airiana Beverly had a break-out game hitting with 5 kills and 2 blocks. Lyndsay Greene had 2 kills. Makenzie Bristow had 5 kills and 3 digs. Haley Revere had 5 digs. Macie Daniel and Kayla Paulos both had 1 dig.

On October 10, visiting Middlesex defeated Carver Academy.

The Lady Chargers have three matches this week. On Thursday, October 12 they are at King and Queen.

On Tuesday, October 17, Middlesex will host Mathews, who is in first place. That match will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night with the girls dressing in pink. There will be a bake sale and 50/50 raffles with proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.

On Thursday, October 19, Middlesex will be at Charles City.

On Tuesday, October 24, West Point will be the Lady Chargers’ final home match and it will be Senior Night. 

The JVs play at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity follows at about 7 p.m.
