Middlesex jumped to a 24-9 first quarter lead, held off a Windsor rally, and went on to defeat the Dukes 78-55 Monday night at MHS in Saluda.

It was the third win of the season for the improving Chargers of coach Jon Hatch. “It was a good sign to see that we could weather the storm when Windsor made their run. The guys are still playing hard and that’s all you can ask,” said Coach Hatch.

Windsor cut the Middlesex lead to 11 points at the half and to one point with three minutes remaining in the third quarter. After trading baskets on several possessions, Mitch Curtiss hit consecutive 3-pointers and a Brandon Ward steal got the Chargers moving in the right direction.

Curtiss had an outstanding game with 14 points, 8 steals and 6 assists.

Jaden Reed scored a team-high 23 points, Logan Snyder had 12, Ward tallied 9, Thomas Diggs and Camren Hammond scored 6 apiece, Alex Bullock 4, and Wyatt Brown and Noah Struse 2 apiece.

The Middlesex varsity will battle West Point at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, at MHS in Saluda. The boys game will be preceded by the girls varsity game at 5:30 p.m.

The MHS JV teams will play at West Point on Thursday, February 7. The girls play at 5:30 p.m. and the boys play at 7 p.m.
