Benjamin Allen of Hartfield was airlifted to a hospital after being injured in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday, May 29, about 1:30 p.m. in Deltaville, according to Virginia State Trooper T.C. Malone, who added Allen was in stable condition on Friday, two days after the crash.

According to Trooper Malone, Allen, who was driving a PT Cruiser, pulled out of Providence Road attempting to turn left onto Route 33.

A pick-up truck traveling east on Route 33 collided with the driver’s side of the PT Cruiser. Members of the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department used the jaws of life to extricate Allen from his vehicle.

The truck, which was pulling a trailer, ran off the north side of the road into a field.

A passenger in the truck, George Lee Clark of Deltaville was transported to an area hospital by the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

All persons involved were wearing seatbelts.

Charges are pending, said Trooper Malone.
