Blues/rock super-guitarist and #1BillBoard blues artist Bobby Messano will headline the Saturday, May 27, Memorial Day weekend Groovin’ in the Park concert at the Deltaville Maritime Museum. Area favorite keyboard man Ray Pittman will lead off the concert at 5 p.m. and Messano will take the stage from 6-8 p.m. Chris McIntyre will handle Ray’s percussion and backup vocals. Gates open at 4 p.m. Check it all out at http://www.deltavillemuseum.com.

Messano’s newest CD “Bad Movie” was just released on April 15, 2017.

“Bad Movie is a collection of 15 indelible songs written with major co-writers Jon Tiven, Larry Weiss and Steve Kalinich and features the amazing “Come To Your Senses” written by Queen founder Brian May and Jon Tiven, and the haunting duet “Water Under The Bridge” with Bobby and Alecia Elliott (2001 AMA Nominee),” said Messano. “I will be premiering songs from this album at the May 27th Deltaville show.”

Yes, Bobby also will play his local favorite, “Welcome to Deltaville.”

On December 22, 2012, Bobby was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. His CDs are heard daily on Sirius/XM’s Legendary Guitarist B.B. King’s Bluesville. His CD “Love & Money,” released in April 2015, was nominated for a prestigious Blues Blast Award for Best Rock-Blues Album. Love & Money debuted on the Billboard Blues Chart at #7, peaked at #1, and spent a total of nine weeks in the Top 10. It was also #7 on the Billboard Heat Seekers Chart and Top 40 on both the Billboard Rock and Indie Charts. Love & Money also ended 2015 at #44 on the Roots Music Report Chart.

Bobby commented this week, “I’ll be playing lots of stuff from all six CDs and some cool extras. I’ll be bringing bassist and backup singer Ed Canova and Texas drummer (home of the “big beat”) Brad Clancy . . . and heck, I have a Wikipedia page now!”

For those who don’t have time to cook, Groovin’ now offers hot dogs, barbecue, cheeseburgers, hamburgers, sodas and bottled water at David’s Snak-shak concession next to the Tea House. It’s always hot and tasty.

We welcome back Marty’s Swine Skins to our food and drink offerings. Try Marty’s new cheese flavor, and his “sweet skins.”

Groovin’ will happen, rain or shine. The concert will be on the stage in the museum’s spacious events pavilion in case of inclement weather.

Tickets for Groovin’ are $10 in advance or $15 at the gate. Tickets are available through the museum office or at Nauti Nell’s in Deltaville. Get yours early!

The Holly Point Market will be held that same morning from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
