‘F.D. Crockett’ nears restoration milestone

With four and a half years of painstaking work behind them, Deltaville Maritime Museum’s project director John England and his all-volunteer “Crocketteers” hope “that noise” is the sweet rumble of the 671 Detroit Diesel engine of the “F.D. Crockett” and the restored buyboat is ready to move under her own power and direction.

Humane Society annual auction raises over $60,000
Despite two date changes due to the snow and ice, more than $60,000 was raised at the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society’s annual auction event on February 27. More than 300 people came out for a Motown-themed evening at the Abingdon Ruritan Center in Bena to benefit the animals.

Richmond Symphony performs in Lancaster Sunday

The Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts will present the final concert in its 2009-2010 series with a concert by the Richmond Symphony on Sunday, March 14, at 2:30 p.m. in the Lancaster Middle School Theater.
